Tools To Bring

In a non-survival situation, like camping or back packing you have the choice of what to bring. Many people would have a few variations but the basics are as follows:

Navigation tools, sun protection, proper clothing, illumination, first aid, fire starter, repair kit and multi tool (Swiss army knife), food water (filter), and shelter (tent/tarp). Having a pot to boil water is always a good idea!

Sometimes we are not sleeping in the woods over night by choice. Carrying a few key things in your day pack is always a good idea and remember that when you head out into the woods anything can happen at anytime. The weather can change and so can the situation. If someone gets injured or disoriented you will need to stay over night. Always have a lighter in your back pack, check your phone battery and make sure that you are watching the weather.

This video on surviving in cold conditions is one of my favourites. Staying warm without a shelter can be challenge. This guy survives in negative temperatures with no tarp and no sleeping bag.
